Favorite track: Der letzte Atem.

Utu Lautturi By the end of the tape, I am sweaty and have to consciously force myself to calm down. There is profound power to be found in this release, and there is no reason to doubt anything less of Mosaic’s future manifestations as well.

Ädäm There is no metal on "Harvest". Instead some narrated poems in neofolk garment. But really very nice!
"The Waterhorse" sounds indeed like a kind of mystic black metal and this makes it so unique. And the novel "The Kelpie Riders" is as well very interesting spring of inspiration. It´s always a pleasure to follow the very variable voice of IK into the depths of his musical creation.

On this night of Samhain I mark your passing, O Sun King through the sunset into the land of the young. I mark also the passing of all who have gone before, and all who will go after. O Gracious Goddess, Eternal Mother, you who gives birth to the fallen, teach me to know that in the time of the greatest darkness there is also the greatest light. O Wise One of the Waning Moon, Goddess of the starry night, I create this fire within your cauldron to transform that which is plaguing me. May the energies be reversed: From the Darkness – Light! From the Bane – Good! From the Death – Birth!

Come forth children...come forth The hair so old Longing for dead The grain so bitter The grain so thin

Come forth children Come close to the fire Come demons Come close to the fire Come king Come close to the fire Key is blood Blood upon fires Blood is key Key upon fires Blood is king King upon fires

Once I have seen the non-burning ash And hammers that blow apart Wine to water O blood and coil The even chimes Like a deadly dagger O wilderness of houses Red clouds of lamentation Blood is king And the king is upon fire King is blood Blood upon fire Calm dream and blooming stone As the fields call from the graves I deaden my thoughts And eat the silence With the lunar mouths of nothingness O dark whistles of autumn Proud grief and reeking blood Upon the altars of honour For my children unborn O ghosts of our native lands Heros unseen... just bloodstained heads O dear! RETURN HOME

ISAAC We must sarifice them both tonight. MALACHAI The Lord will' be pleased enough with Amos. We need the woman. She will bring the man to us. ISAAC No! He must be taken without her. We cannot remove her from this place. It is Holy! MALACHAI To bring Him two we would not use one? ISAAC (threatening) Do not blaspheme, MalachaiI You know not the laws. He speaks them only to me. MALACHAI (enraged) I think not, Isaac I You are the one who has lost favor with Him! He is a God of blood and sacrifice, not ceremony! ISAAC (shouting) Liesl Sacrilege! Down on your knees, heretic!Malachai lashes out with his fist and knocks Isaac to the ground. Malachai stands over him. The new Usurper. MALACHAI Command me not, Isaac, for you have grown prideful, and apart from us. He Who Walks Behind the Rows will decide your fate.Isaac, dripping with venom and utter hatred for Malachai, turns on the assembled group. He screams invectives. ISAAC Don't just stand there! Seize him! Punish him! Cut him down! I command you. I am the Word and the Giver of His Laws! ISAAC (cont'd) Disobedience to me is disobedience to Him, He Who Walks Behind the Rows, and He will slay you with a thousand times a thousand deaths, each more horrible than the last!!!

OLD MAN’s WYNTAR!

about

Harvest: Songs of autumnal landscapes and melancholy spans the first 10 years of MOSAIC. It is a collection of early material, containing the very first Mosaic recordings which have been released previously only on very small runs of cassette tapes. To complete the autumnal feast the orignal Samhain Celebration song cycle was added, which complements the early material and advance it to a full-length duration.

Harvest is an ode to Valkenstijn's beloved Thuringian homelands. It takes us on a journey through misty woods and foggy nights, when the golden sunlight of late summer must give in to the autumnal cold that starts rising from the ground, when the warmth of summer must yield to the chilling breeze that heralds the end of the year, when the light must give in to the dark. Valkenstijn's unique recitations of poems by Georg Trakl, Joseph Eichendorff, Max Dauthendey and more, together with his own original writings, evoke the scents of a fire crackling in the chill morning air, of mossy woods that lure the melancholic mind ever deeper into their enchanted depths.

Starting off as a delicate blend of the finest neofolkloristic/-classical soundscapes – think Empyrium, Sturmpercht or Rome – Harvest eventually erupts into outbursts of furious black metal in the vein of Germany's éminence grise Lunar Aurora.

The recordings were thoroughly reinvigorated without losing their original appeal by Valkenstijn in May MMXX at his House of Inkantation.
This album will be released as on all digital channels and as jewel-case with a complete new layout and artwork based on historic photographs from Thuringia. A two-sided 24x24cm poster and a slipcase with the orignal artwork are also included.
